planning to put the unit close to the intake vent for the a/c. so it doesn’t have to be “whole house” unit. i don’t care if it is noisy. i would like something effective and reliable

We have a feeling the carpet will need to go but perhaps one of you have a sure fire way of cleaning it. I have tried chlorine, spraying the wall and using it as shampoo, lysol drenching, & dehumidifiers yet we still seem to get the sniffles from the room. I have it set up to automatically drain, the drain connection was not leaking, and when I moved it I hear water INSIDE of the unit (not in the normal catch area), and when I tilted it Niagra falls came out, but I can’t figure out where? I didn’t even know dehumidifiers could have water inside of the sealed part? Any one know where the water actually is and how to stop it from going there so it won’t leak? Thanks
