How clean is the water from a dehumidifier? Is it safe to drink cold or to make hot drinks with?

July 27th, 2010 | by admin |
Tim Benjamin asked:

My dehumidifier is located in the cellar of my house, which is built from stone and is located in northern England. The cellar is quite dry and never floods, but the air seems to be about 75% humidity so I installed a dehumidifier to protect the documents in my filing cabinet which I keep there. The tray in the dehumidifier unit fills up quickly and the water seems clean… but is it?

The only way to check if its ok to check if its ok to drink is to have it analysed.

DEHUMIDIFIER water is gray water which is besides sewage so it is not suitable for drinking.Water is water. So I don’t think there’s no issues but i prefer cold water.

      Not clean enough to drink!

It has dirt and dust in it, maybe even bacteria!
