Is it safe to drink water from the dehumidifier even after putting it into a Brita filter?

Da Austrian Oak asked:

I’m not cheap or anything–I just figured what the heck. I drink a gallon of water a day–the basin holds way more than a gallon, so most of it ends up going down the sink. My mom uses it to water plants when it gets full and needs to be emptied but when she’s not home and it gets full and she likes it to run all day, I’ve been saving the water in jugs. She said it might not be safe even w/ Brita because Brita says nothing about getting bacteria out of the water. What do you think?
Maybe I could boil it if there’s a chance for bacteria in it?

I think it would be okay. That is how distilled water is made, by pulling it out of the air.
