I have a Goodman central air conditioner. 1,500 sq. ft. Hot, humid climate. Today, inside it was 79 with 75% humidity. Outside 95 F with 100% humidity. I did not see any that you install at the air handler (mine is in the garage) and the portable dehumidifiers; people say they work great for a year, then the water pump dies. Cheaper to buy another unit, is what I am reading.

Any suggestions?

I am planning on attaching a hose to a dehumidifier so the water can go directly to the drain in the floor. Do I have to get a 50 gallon one and pay more money for an 1100 sq. ft. basement? I am thinking gallon means tank size and I should be able to get a small one as long as it sucks the water out of the air. Right?

I’ve been looking through Amazon today and there is literally hundreds of dehumidifers for home use. I have a damp problem in my basement, but also my bedroom gets a bit humid and uncomfortable.

Do I need more than one? What would anyone recommend? Any informational sites that are newbie friendly that I can check out as im pretty clueless about dehumidifiers.
