Why are dehumidifiers not commonly used in the Philippines, where the relative humidity is 60-90%?

I figure dehumidifiers make the air more comfortable and cooler. So why aren’t people using it?
But things do get damp despite the hot weather! Wet laundered clothes take a long time to air dry (1-2 days) despite the sun being out most of the time!
